Television at Rough Trade in 2013 (more by Greg Cristman)
Television

The Polaris Prize-nominated Arcade Fire already have some incredible openers lined up for their tour including a Unicorns reunion at all three Barclays Center shows (Aug. 22, 23 & 24) in Brooklyn, as well as two California shows. Dan Deacon are on those Barclays shows too and it's now been announced that the third date will also feature NYC punk legends Television!

In case you weren't keeping up, let me repeat: You can see Arcade Fire, the reunited Unicorns, and Television on the same damn show. Tickets for all three Barclays Center dates are still on sale.

New York doesn't get all the fun though, another legendary band from that same era, Devo (who they covered) have been added to Arcade Fire's two Chicago shows and their Mountain View, CA show. Steve Mackey of Pulp (DJ set) and Antibalas were also added to select dates.

Updated Arcade FIre dates, including other shows with Spoon, tUnE-yArDs, the reunited Constantines, and more, are listed below...

Tickets were selling terribly for that show, so this makes sense.

That sounds great. Reunited Unicorns will add about 500 additional ticket buyers who give a crap. Television will add about 1500 people who give a crap.

They could have done with one Barclays show, me thinks.

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 11:35 AM

Wish Television was playing the other nights.

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 11:36 AM

Adding that third night Barclay's was a terrible idea. The first two shows weren't even close to sold out when they added it. Not even Television is going to prevent all those empty seats.

I didn't know the Crypt Keeper played guitar

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 11:45 AM

there is something terribly wrong about Television opening for Arcade Fire

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 11:47 AM

devo and television opening for arcade fire is terribly backwards

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 11:52 AM

Are GA tix still only available via those dumb VIP packages?

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 11:54 AM

it may seem backwards and even wrong however Arcade Fire sold way more albums than Devo, television or unicorns I would think

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 11:55 AM

This is a day-of kinda show, that's for sure.

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 12:15 PM

11:55 is a rocket scientist

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 12:19 PM

Cold caves is opening the 1st nite

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 12:40 PM

Barclay's is actually better half-empty

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 12:40 PM

"Television will add about 1500 people who give a crap."

During the beginning of the last full reunion (kind of sad to write that), Television played at Irving Plaza, which holds that amount. I don't think the show was sold out.

Television. Pffftttt. Fucking transplants.

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 12:45 PM

Devo as the opening act for these clowns is just awful

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 1:02 PM

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 1:59 PM

"In case you weren't keeping up, let me repeat: You can see Arcade Fire, the reunited Unicorns, and Television on the same damn show."

BV for the hard sell! Insert carnival barker voice.

^which for around $25 is not a bad deal

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 2:17 PM

I actually would prefer Spoon or Devo.

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 2:26 PM

let me know when they add the B-52s ;)

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 3:25 PM

Tom Verlaine turned his back on hardcore.

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 4:24 PM

I can't wait until Arcade Fire is opening for Catey Shaw, the winds of change do blow...

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 6:48 PM

no richard lloyd i presume

Posted by tonyb | July 17, 2014 8:51 PM

How much will the promoters pay us to sit in the empty seats?

Television is timeless. Devo was important and subversive. Arcade Fire is about as interesting as Third Eye Blind. Too bad you can't sell your used mp3s to the used mp3 store, so we could see stacks of discarded Arcade Fire sitting next to cultural detritus like Garth Brooks.

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 9:41 PM

Television is shit and Devo has long croaked. Arcade Fire fucking rules.

Posted by Anonymous | July 17, 2014 11:08 PM

'Don't like Arcade Fire but I gotta respect them for choosing Television. They could've picked any number of "current" bands but they chose an old band who'll be able to play to a new audience - cool.

Posted by D | July 18, 2014 12:19 AM

They chose an old band that most Arcade Fire fans don't give a shit about, and will show up late and miss on purpose.

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2014 8:08 AM

"The Mummy Lives"

Posted by Anonymous | July 18, 2014 2:32 PM

It's not Television without Richard Lloyd, it's just "TV."

I wonder if the sword story is true and if so wonder what that sword would be worth today?
