Towards the end of the evening, Louise confirmed that the band were in good spirits, telling the crowd "So, this great thing happened. Nina and I got over our shit." She also thanked us for selling out the show in 4 minutes (!), saying this was proof that we were the best New York audience. By the time the time came for their most notable hit "Seether", the crowed lost its mind, singing back every word, almost overtaking the band. Right before they played it, a guy next to me screamed "here it is, don't fight it!" He had no reason to be worried, every single body in the Bowery Ballroom lost their shit. - [We All Want Someone to Shout For]
The reactivated original lineup of Veruca Salt played their first NYC shows since the Clinton years last week, hitting Bowery Ballroom on Thursday (7/24, same night as their onetime DGC labelmates Teenage Fanclub were playing River Rocks), and Music Hall of Williamsburg on Friday (7/25). In addition to new songs "It's Holy" and "Museum of Broken Relationships," the band delivered '90s faves like "Seether," "Number One Blind," "Shutterbug," and "Victrola." Setlist, pics and video of "Number One Blind" from the MHOW show are in this post.

Portland, OR band Battleme opened both NYC shows. Pics from their MHOW set, plus more of Veruca Salt, below...

the show was amazing. the entire audience was filled with love. I never saw so many boys sing along at once! Nina + Louise were so gracious that we have adored them and American thighs for 20 years. what a memorable night! XO

There are people waiting in line in the afternoon to get into a Veruca Salt show in the year 2014.

Take a second to reflect how sad that is.

Get bent.

Shouldn't this have been a Pringles commercial?

Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2014 11:33 AM

11:25 has waaaay cooler music taste than all of you.

You may have thought you had a good time at this show, but little did you know you were wrong.

good thing 11:25 is here at his computer to correct you.

Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2014 11:53 AM

they were fucking great at Music Hall. what was that intro music?

Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2014 12:31 PM

As retarded as 11:24 sounds, it was probably better than a Neutral Milk Hotel show.

Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2014 12:51 PM

This show was awesome. I can't wait for the Candlebox / Sugar Ray / Smashmouth show!!!

Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2014 1:12 PM

I don't know if 11:25 has good taste in music or not. He is correct, though. If you waited to see this, you absolutely have shitty taste in music. Veruca Salt was bland, bandwagoneering shit that radio pushed on people in the mid 90's. If you were affected by that push, you have shitty taste in music.

Did they do that What I Am Is What I Am song? I like that song, it reminds me of Popeye.

Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2014 2:51 PM

2:46 - Haven't been on BV long? The "everyone is the same person" argument makes you look foolish.

Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2014 2:54 PM

2:54 should look in a mirror before leaving the house, speaking of looking foolish

Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2014 2:58 PM

^ BURN!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2014 2:59 PM

2:58 - I am humbled. You have shown me that you not only have superior taste in music, but also the sharpest wit I've seen on here. You win. Veruca Salt forever.

This photo made me wonder - fire code says a certain number of people can be in the place, but what if all those people are fat? Gonna be a real tight show! Should there be a weight limit as well? Like, you can have 500 100lb people, or 100 500lb people, but not 500 500lb people

Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2014 1:10 PM

2:54 = 3:09 = 2:21 = 11:25

Just wanted to point that out. You're velcome :)

Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2014 1:29 PM

^ all correct except for 11:25. That wasn't me, hence my comment at 2:54. What's your point?

Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2014 2:03 PM

^ My point is that you care too much about who likes whatever kind of music.

Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2014 2:32 PM

^ what? We were having a conversation. I agreed with the earlier guy. Someone said "oooh you're the same person." I made a snide remark about how that's a dumb assumption. That person posted a 2nd grader's response. I responded.

Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2014 2:39 PM

^ It's sometimes a dumb assumption. I thought it was reasonable in this case. But obviously there's no way to prove it, so I'll just assume you like Kevin Federline songs and wearing briefs on top of your head in public too.
