You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Beck @ Central Park Summerstage
Beck put out his twelfth album this year, Morning Phase, which is his first in six years and he considers it the “companion piece” to 2002’s Sea Change. The pastoral vibe of the album should work well in the lovely setting of Central Park.

Liquor Store, Glow God, Tournament, Ballroom @ Death by Audio
Oklahoma City’s Glow God lay down the gauntlet via sludgy riffs. They’re the only out-of-towners on this bill of local punk.

Pretty & Nice, Zula, The Sea Life, Leapling @ Glasslands
Boston trio Pretty & Nice specialize in nervy power pop, the kind that XTC and Joe Jackson did so well in 1979. P&N do it well too. Last year’s Golden Rules For Golden People was terrific, lets hope a new one is out soon.

The Howlin’ Brothers @ City Winery (Hudson Square Music & Wine Festival)
Part of the free Hudscon Square Music & Wine Festival, tonight’s installment features Nashville’s Howlin’ Brothers who put a fresh coat of wax on the Mountain String Band sound.

Mournful Congregation, Lycus, Vilkacis, Evoken, Lord Mantis @ Saint Vitus
Martyrdoom III, the third annual five-day metal festival at Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus, wraps up tonight with Australian funeral doomers Mournful Congregation, Oakland funeral doomers Lycus, Fell Voices-related black metal band Vilkacis, daeth doomers Evoken, and blackened sludge crew Lord Mantis.

Alpha Consumer, Heaven’s Jail @ Knitting Factory
Heaven’s Jail is the Brooklyn folk rock band led by Francesco Ferorelli who recently announced an album produced by and featuring Phosphorescent. If you’re into Phosphorescent (or Deer Tick whose side project Heaven’s Jail recently shared a bill with), you might want to check this out.

For laughs, check out the NYC Comedy calendar too.
