What's going on Monday? (Planning for Burial, Destruction Unit, Laced, Replica, National doc & more)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Destruction Unit, White Hills, Ancient Ocean @ Baby’s All Right
Arizona psychedelic punks Destruction Unit just put on two different but equally ripping shows in NYC this past week. Before they head home they’ll squeeze in a third tonight. They’re the kind of band you have to see live and the setlist is bound to be different than the last two.

Laced, Friend, Walkup, Greenfield @ Glasslands
Laced is a very new band featuring Dustin of Beach Fossils and Nude Beach drummer Ryan Naideau. In addition to some other bands — this is a real friends and family show — there’s also a comedy set by Matt Kallman of Real Estate. Yes, you read that correctly.

Planning for Burial, Kosmodemonic, Gholas, My Mountain @ Grand Victory
Planning for Burial’s new record Desideratum is an excellent blend of gloomy drone, gothy shoegaze, and hints of black/doom metal. Local sludge band Kosmodemonic are worth showing up for too.

Replica, La Misma, Razorheads, Public Hex @ Acheron
Replica, who feature members of No Statik and Infect, recently put out their Beast EP, a roaring burner of metallic hardcore. They were in NYC not long ago to open for Infest, and they return tonight for a show which features local greats La Misma and more.

The National ‘Mistaken For Strangers’ screening @ City Winery
The National’s documentary, Mistaken for Strangers, directed by singer Matt Berninger’s brother Tom (the film’s sort of about him too), hit theaters back in March but if you still haven’t seen it tonight you’ll get another chance at City Winery for only $5.

Night Train with Wyatt Cenac @ Littlefield
This week’s edition of Wyatt Cenac’s weekly Night Train comedy series is guest hosted by The Kondabolu Brothers and features appearances by Jen Kirkman, Damien Lemon, Phoebe Robinson, Rob Cantrell, and Michelle Wolf.
