Dylan

Bob Dylan will be hitting the road again this year for a tour which culminates in NYC with a four-night run at Beacon Theatre from November 28 to December 2. These should be special shows for Bob Dylan, who often plays larger venues like Jones Beach and Barclays Center. Right before the Beacon run, Dylan also plays another show nearby NYC on November 26 at New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark. Tickets for NJ and NYC shows go on sale Friday, September 5 at 10 AM. All dates are listed below.

Bob Dylan will also now complete his ongoing Basement Tapes series with the release of The Basement Tapes Complete: The Bootleg Series Vol. 11 on November 4 via Columbia/Legacy:

The Basement Tapes Complete brings together, for the first time ever, every salvageable recording from the tapes including recently discovered early gems recorded in the "Red Room" of Dylan's home in upstate New York. Garth Hudson worked closely with Canadian music archivist and producer Jan Haust to restore the deteriorating tapes to pristine sound, with much of this music preserved digitally for the first time.

The decision was made to present The Basement Tapes Complete as intact as possible. Also, unlike the official 1975 release, these performances are presented as close as possible to the way they were originally recorded and sounded back in the summer of 1967. The tracks on The Basement Tapes Complete run in mostly chronological order based on Garth Hudson's numbering system.

Tracklists below.

Today (August 28) also happens to be the 50th anniversary of the day Bob Dylan met The Beatles and introduced them to marijuana. Dylan's next album had a full-band electric side, and The Beatles' next one had a folk song ("I'm A Loser").

All Bob Dylan tour dates are listed, with the Basement Tapes tracklists, below...

Comments (26)

If you've never seen Dylan live you shou ... wait a minute, if you've never seen him live at this point you've been living under a rock for 40 years, the dude's like 1000 years old and tours +250 days a year

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 2:11 PM

4 night Beacon run, same setlist every night.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 2:17 PM

Agreed with both comments, actually.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 2:20 PM

Yeah, sad but true. Hopefully maybe he will change it up a little for the 4 nights, but history does not show it over the past few tours.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 2:21 PM

I'll go to Newark and one of the Beacons.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 2:22 PM

A run at the Capitol Theater would be the jam

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 2:26 PM

Honest question: I heard Beacon has no GA section. Will people stand or sit during his performance?

Posted by Hipster from Iowa | August 28, 2014 2:37 PM

Too bad the new Bootleg Series Basement Tapes are $150. I get that there are 6 CD's with 140something songs but fuck that sucks.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 2:38 PM

Given the setlist, they will be sitting through every single song.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 2:40 PM

Not for nothing, but at this time between Dylan and The Band they basically were walking encyclopedias of North American music

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 2:40 PM

that picture is from when dylan used to bang mavis staples

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 2:55 PM

Who cares if its the same setlist every night? You won't be able to recognize a single song anyway.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 4:32 PM

2:37 Unfortunately most people will be sitting down and will yell at you if you stand up. Certainly true towards the back. Sometimes up front there will be a few more people standing, but don't count on it.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 4:49 PM

Don't kid yourself, the only people standing will be a few dancers that look like this guy

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 4:52 PM

sadly, 4:52 tells the truth

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 5:06 PM

Dylan in 2014 = still not giving a fuck what you think.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 5:55 PM

is there an opener?

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 8:59 PM

Dylan mouth-raped the singer Jewel. He's an old greasy twit.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 9:36 PM

You say that like it's a bad thing

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 10:11 PM

Beacon has no GA section and every single person will be sitting down.

DAR Constitution Hall is tiny, so I'll be at the DC shows. Dylan shows are rarely unrewarding.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 10:59 PM

The voice is too painful at this point. He should have someone else sing the songs and just play piano/harmonica.

Pass

Posted by Anonymous | August 29, 2014 12:37 AM

Dylan is awful live.

Posted by Anonymous | August 29, 2014 8:07 AM

"Dylan shows are rarely unrewarding."

I've made the mistake of seeing him a few times, and they were all plenty unrewarding. The old-timey band plus his voice just ruin it for me. Not to mention ignoring most of his back catalog in favor of his dull newer albums.

Posted by Anonymous | August 29, 2014 8:36 AM

I was unrewarded at a Dylan show. Yes.. no doubt this guy is an absolute legend however his live shows suck. Also he played keyboards the whole night :(

Posted by Anonymous | August 29, 2014 8:57 AM

Last Dylan show I went to, some 60 year-old guy with a goatee wearing cargo shorts ripped two loud nasty farts, turned around both times with a smirk on his face and said "Bazooka." to everyone around him.

Never seeing Dylan again.
