Stage 48

It took us a minute to fully realize it, but since losing Webster Hall, Bowery Presents has been booking shows at the similarly sized Manhattan venue Stage 48. You may already realize this. You may not care. Regardless, it's happening. Is it temporary? We don't know. Have you been to the venue? What do you think?

Not all Stage 48 shows are Bowery Presents. Kaiju Big Battel and Bomba Estereo are not.

The Horrors, Sleep, and Justin Townes Earle are all Bowery Presents shows though (as are Sir Sly, Wolf Gang, Secret Someones, J. Roddy Walston & The Business, Fly Golden Eagle, EOTO, and Watsky).

We actually have a pair of tickets to give away for the 9/9 Justin Townes Earle show. Want them? Details on how to enter to win below...

===================================================================
For a chance at winning tickets to Justin Townes Earle at Stage 48: either tweet something that includes both @BrooklynVegan AND "JUSTIN TOWNES EARLE AT STAGE 48" in the tweet, or send an email to BVCONTESTS@HOTMAIL.COM with the subject line "JUSTIN TOWNES EARLE". Include your first and last name in the email. We'll pick a winner at random and contact them with more details. If you enter by email, it will not be shared with anyone else. Good luck!

Looks like a smaller version of Terminal 5. That is not a good thing.

saw John Waters there. The place is incredibly mismanaged with hideous sound.

Posted by Anonymous | August 15, 2014 10:35 AM

BP is still booking new shows at Webster. I'm not sure how they "lost" it?

Worst venue in NYC. Not doing a show is better than doing a show there.

right across the street from horse stables. the smells of crap while waiting in line

That place is dope as hell. Went there for Lettuce. Definitely not anything like T5. Has a great sound system and the staff actually kicks ass... I spilled 4 beers trying to get them to my friends and the manager saw and bought me 4 more plus a shot.

Hotmail is cool again. It's like millennials discovering soul music.

I love hotmail

Saw King's X there twice, The Residents, and one other show I can't recall right now. The place is fine, security are not assholes, easy to get in and out, good sightlines, sound is fine - some people just like to bitch about anything. I really don't have any time for such pussies.
