As mentioned, Cass McCombs is hitting the road with veteran cowpunks Meat Puppets for a co-headlining tour that includes two nights at Rough Trade around Halloween (October 31 & November 1) (tickets). For the occasion, Cass and the Meat Puppets are releasing a split single. Cass' side features two new originals, and the Meat Puppets cover The Everly Brothers' "Cathy's Clown" and Texas Tornados' "Hey Baby (Que Paso)" on the flip. The latter's Kirk Kirkwood did the cover art (above) and you can stream a song from each side below.

Meat Pups have been performing those two covers for at least the last two years. They need to write some new originals, and they'd better be good.
