GBV at Bowery Ballroom in May (more by Gretchen Robinette)
GBV

The current Guided by Voices tour already landed in NYC a couple times, and this weekend it comes back to the area for two shows in nearby cities. TONIGHT (8/22), they're on Long Island for a show at Huntington's Paramount, and Saturday (8/23) they'll hit The Stone Pony in Asbury Park. Both are with Brazilian psych rockers Boogarins (who also recently played NYC), and tickets for both are still available. If you're unable to make the NJ show, you can still watch it from the comfort of your own home when it streams live at 9:30 PM EST via Yahoo.

GBV have other dates too, including Fun Fun Fun Fest. All are listed below...

^I'm not in a band however Bee Thousand is the most overrated album of the last few decades. Oh Tractor Rape Chain what a great band.

GBV plays for hours, changes their setlist often and have people who follow them form show to show who don't bathe. Sounds like the dead to me!

GA tickets are free for tonight's show.

Arcade Fire are offering a Groupon to see them in the middle of Brooklyn. They're trying to fill seats for GBV way the hell out in LI. Not the same thing.

Posted by Anonymous | August 22, 2014 2:30 PM

Exactly. Not the same thing. If you were on the fence before, you should go now.

Sure whatever however $0 is very telling

It's Long Island. If they were emo or rap/metal, there would be a line around the block right now.

Bands don't do well on Long Island unless they appeal to older people or teenagers. I've seen Built to Spill and the Lemonheads play to crowds of like, 30-50 people while a Billy Joel cover band can pack a place out.

Arcade Fire should be able to pack shows in Brooklyn, however 3 arena shows was a bit too ambitious.

sad...but whoever booked them there had pretty ridiculous expectations from them to play a huge space in the 'burbs - when they just at a sold out Irving Plaza last month, right after a sold out Bowery Ballroom show a month before that.

And then booking the Stone Pony tomorrow night….

Who the hell is gonna travel for two hours on a Friday night from the city for this?

Posted by Anonymous | August 22, 2014 3:20 PM

Who cares? They undersold a venue in an area they've never played before. Buy their records and they won't have to do these shows.

Posted by Anonymous | August 22, 2014 3:23 PM

They'll suck down more $$$ in booze onstage than the total ticket sales.

Goldstar for robot boy.

They'll probably do okay in Asbury, since it's more of a rock town, but who in LI cares if it's not on the radio?

Posted by Anonymous | August 22, 2014 4:56 PM

Lon Guyland needz rawk too !

Posted by Anonymous | August 22, 2014 4:57 PM
