Lorde curating the new 'Hunger Games' soundtrack

LordeLorde

Reminding everyone that she is in fact a 17-year-old, pop sensation and huge Hunger Games fan, Lorde will be “curating” the soundtrack for the upcoming film Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I. In a stunningly appropriate bit of marketing, Lorde will be ‘supervising’ the selection of songs for the soundtrack as the “sole curator.” Following in the Twilight mold, previous films in the series have included quite a bit of original music from bands like Arcade Fire, Coldplay, The National, Patti Smith, and Lorde herself. No word yet on what specific music will appear therein, besides the lead single which Lorde will record, but Lorde has promised that “the soundtrack is definitely going to surprise people.” Hopefully that means it will involve The Cramps.

Lorde plays Lollapalooza today at 8 PM EST and you can stream her performance live. Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I is out November 21. Check out the new trailer (which features Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s final performance) below.
