Ramones

There's been plenty going on for the Ramones 40th anniversary (and in the wake of the passing of Tommy Ramone, their last original member). NYC has already had one anniversary celebration and there's another coming. A new 'best of' is on the way and Morrissey is compiling the tracklist. And they were just honored in NYC this past weekend by Arcade Fire.

Now, a new Billboard article reveals that even more is coming. Influential filmmaker Martin Scorsese is planning to make a film on the band, and there will also be a theatrical play, a book, and a documentary with footage from the '70s and '80s shot by George Seminara. Remastered music and new apparel are planned as well.

As previously discussed, Richie Ramone (member from '83-'87) is playing NYC with The Queers soon, and CJ Ramone ('89 to '96) signed to Fat Wreck Chords and is touring Brazil as we speak. Marky Ramone is also touring Brazil and other South American countries with Michale Graves in November.

Gimme a fucking break with this band.

All the songs sounded the same and they were irrelevant by 1980.

Completely agree with 9:16.

15-20 years too late for Marty. It'll probably have Leonardo Dicaprio in it, be three hours long, and suck balls.

I think someone should just take this city and just... just flush it down the fuckin' toilet.

Posted by Travis | August 28, 2014 10:42 AM

You talking to me, Travis?

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 10:43 AM

All you idiots throwing out actors names to play the Ramones are a bunch of fools.. Of course it will be a documentary like he did with George Harrison and Bob Dylan.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 10:54 AM

Can you imagine dying in the post-city like Joey did? Johnny was always smarter.

I'm putting together a band of cute post city children for CityFest 2014, "The Brunchmones."

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2014 11:00 PM

Yo fuckface at 10:59am I'm from NYC born and raised and will leave here whenever the fuck I feel like it. Sorry I don't worship at their altar like you and the rest of the done with punk by 1983-84 or earlier crowd (what most Ramones fans are.)

Ramones were, are, and always will be overrated. And over by 1980.

I am sick of the milking of this band and their seemingly endless supply of guys with the last name Ramone milking it for its worth.

Posted by Anonymous | August 29, 2014 2:56 AM

2:56 sounds angry.
You are angry, aren't you?

Posted by Anonymous | August 29, 2014 7:13 AM

Yes, he's very angry and a clueless dipshit.

Get off my lawn, fuckers!

Posted by Anonymous | August 29, 2014 10:24 AM

Nah I'm not angry I'm forceful.

You and 10:24am (same guy) are the angry ones who can't deal with that this band isn't all that.

Posted by Anonymous | August 29, 2014 6:10 PM

No you're clearly angry, and as for "forceful"? nigga, PUHLEEZE. You are an anonymous keyboard warrior dweeb lacking force which only comes from a valid point. You are a deluded fuck, and an angry one at that.

You try to have yourself a stellar weekend there, sport.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2014 12:54 AM

^Says a dweeb posting as Anonymous.

Deluded cuz I don't think Ramones are the rock gods you think they are (were.)

Suck a dick bitch, and stop using racist words like ¨nigga" especially when you, a white person, never call a black person that to his or her face.

When one insists someone is whatever, he/she is angry, that's it.

Have a shitty weekend you dunce.

Looks like SOMEONE missed naptime yesterday! Oh darling, you really do need to learn how to relax. Not telling you what you should do, but maybe some medication might help for a time while you get to the root of these obvious issues buried underneath. Honey, not for nothing but I think it might be best if you avoid stress triggers for a time, like writing stupid angry unfunny comments on blogs anonymously. Your mental health is worth more than acting the fool over and over.

When you find yourself in a hole, friend, first thing you should do is STOP DIGGING.

Do take care of yourself, sweetheart.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2014 7:45 AM

Fuck the Ramones! If you like the Ramones I bet you have AIDS.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2014 4:13 PM

Don't forget to name a softdring or ice cream after the the few who tried to be punk in your whatever-temple and gross it to the custumers.

Posted by Robert | August 30, 2014 7:12 PM

7:45pm is all upset that he's upset.

I love how you call me out for posting as Anonymous when you are doing the same thing, jackass.

Do not concern yourself of what others think, sweetums xxx.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2014 9:46 PM

Lol this assclown is an angry and confused little bitch. OK, we all get how you hate the Ramones. Do you feel better now, cupcake? Do you feel "validated"? Like all that shit your mommy and daddy talked to you about being a fuck up and never making anything of yourself now goes away?

Posted by Anonymous | August 31, 2014 2:23 AM

^ Glad you are admitting you are an assclown and an angry little bitch. And a Ramones superfanboy
