The Body going on tour, crowdfunding for a new van (dates)

Noisy sludgesters The Body are gearing to tour if they have a van that will survive the trek. To make that happen, the band has set up an Indiegogo campaign, opening with this pitch:

If you follow us, you know we tour a ton but we’ve never owned a van that wasn’t at least 12 years old and had over 200,000 miles upon us buying it from some freak on Craigslist. Honestly, we feel weird about crowd funding so we tried to offer stuff that we would be selling anyways in some other format. We would buy it with our own money but we’re borderline animals with no careers because we’ve thrown our lives in the toilet to tour 6 months a year and surprisingly, yelling to people doesn’t pay like it did in the 80’s.

I feel like this is the section where they get a slow clap for honesty.

Of course, one of the highlights of crowdsourced projects is window shopping the donor perks, and this one has some goodies. The options include snagging a never-to-be-pressed again album, T-shirts featuring either member of the duo, and a chance for the band to take you out for pizza. You can watch a video on the fundraising campaign below.

The Body have had another busy year, releasing two collaboration albums — I Shall Die Here with the Haxan Cloak and Released From Love with Thou, which we premiered on Invisible Oranges — along with a bevy of early summer shows including dates with Thou and a spot at this year’s Gilead Fest. They’re currently scheduled to appear at Southwest Terror Fest in Tucson, Arizona in October.

The campaign video along with streams from their 2014 releases appear below.
