No stage diving please...
mayhemfestival

That pic above is from the Millington, TN stop of Mayhem Fest and was tweeted/deleted by Trivium's Paolo Gregoletto with the caption, "Brutal pit for the first band today." Ouch. I've had games of Solitaire that have been better attended. I think there are more actual Sumerians still in existence. Even the inflatable bottle is on the insta-quip action.

As for live dates with a better chance of drawing a crowd, Pyrrhon (whose singer, full disclosure, used to write this column) have updated their upcoming schedule for their tour with Gigan and Artificial Brain. In addition, grinders Die Choking -- who will be sharing a bill with Pyrrhon in October -- have several tour dates on the horizon including a show on August 10 at the Grand Victory with King Parrot, Organ Dealer, and Nightcrawler. Tickets are available now. All of the dates appear below.

KEN mode, who have an Invisible Oranges-presented show coming up, teased some new jams in a concert recently. You can check out "Blessed" on their facebook.

Finally, Converge have, uh, also been ". . . working diligently on this tour at every moment we get to write new music." Footage of them practicing new material is down below.

Don't forget to keep up with the rest of our metal coverage during the week.

Now that you're, ahem, fully briefed, let's recap all of the A/V transmissions.

While the newswire was quiet, the streams were not. There are a ton of tracks available for your perusal, including a freebie from Manes. The 'name your price' single of Floydian falseness (they named it Vntrve, they get it) is available below.

For full streams, blackened deathers Belphegor are now offering the freshly released Conjuring The Dead. You can also hear Rabbits bash out their primitive stomp on Untoward (August 12, Lamb Unlimited - preorder). Plus, core crushers Coliseum are streaming their remastered reissue of their first album. All three are below.

Single tracks: 1349 blast through "Cauldron" from the smartly-titled Massive Cauldron Of Chaos (September 30, Season Of Mist - preorder). Cinema grinders Graf Orlock dropped "A Decent Proposal In A Shitty Alley" from Trailer. They've also got some upcoming tour dates with Dangers and Holy. Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats put out the single "Runaway Girls" in preparation for their US tour. And Decapitated and made "The Blasphemous Psalm To The Dummy God Creation" public, which is culled from Blood Mantra (September 30, Nuclear Blast - preorder). Sorry, let me rephrase that in Death Metal English. THE OUTFIT OF INCARNATE EVIL, CEPHALIC REMOVAL, AND DEXTROUS WIZARDY PRESENT AN ENSORCELLED SPELL OF AIR VIBRATION DAMNING A PHANTOM DEITY. Or something. All of the streams are below.

Prefer purty pictures? Tons of videos also made their way online. Triptykon shot a buffet of delights for the eye with "Aurorae." Reminder: They said they were going to make MDF 2015. Hope so. Entombed A.D. whispered, "Welcome to Carcosa," with their flick for "Pandemic Rage." And vikings and fellow MDF 2015 participants Einherjer put together an acid-aided animation for new song "Nidstong." You can watch the videos below.

Got it? Good. To shows we go:

TODAY (FRIDAY, 8/8): The loaded Summer Slaughter tour featuring, deep breath, Morbid Angel, Dying Fetus, The Faceless, Thy Art Is Murder, Origin, Decrepit Birth, Within the Ruins, Fallujah, Boreworm, ZFL, and Goatwhore -- which LiveNation has stylized as "Goatwh**e because NAUGHTY, NAUGHTY -- is happening at Irving Plaza as we speak. Tickets are still available at the door. If grind/twilight is more your game, the international bill of Department Of Corrections, Budd Dwyer, Sea of Bones, and Mother Brain are at Saint Vitus tonight (tickets).

SATURDAY (8/9): The Acheron is screening the Welcome to Deathfest documentary along with sets from Argentinum Astrum and Belus (tickets). And the reformed Drowningman will be at Saint Vitus with Pilot to Gunner and As We Were (tickets). The Austerity Program, whose new LP we reviewed on IO, play Shea Stadium with Gnarwhal, Pinecones and Voice Coils.

SUNNNNNNNDAY (8/10): The Die Choking show mentioned above slides into Grand Victory with King Parrot, Organ Dealer, and Nightcrawler (tickets).

Looking for late adds and dates ahead? Our NYC Metal Show Calendar has got you covered.

Let's talk IO: We got the week started by tracking all of the new tunes in Upcoming Metal Releases. We then put on our thinky-caps by examining what makes a critic-proof band. We had premieres aplenty with Big Black Cloud, Divider, and Godhunter. We welcomed you to our book collection with a review of the classic Hammer of the Gods and not so classic Wheels of Confusion. We chatted with Behold! The Monolith about losing a member and what it takes to keep on going. Arsis' A Celebration of Guilt turned 10 this week and we broke down the album that feels like it was released yesterday (sigh, get off my lawn). And finally, we caught up with Lucky 13's Melody Henry about the status of her bar's new location.

Alright, consider the decks cleared. What did we miss? What are your plans? Let us know and catch all of the dates, reams of streams, and other noted details below.

^ I agree. Poor wittle scarf spamming BV pages. Don't worry, I know he'll spend the entire weekend reacting to my one single post here with a flood of shit that's of less usefulness than the spyware he just had to get rid of for the 937th time this year.

Nice prediction, Buckeye. I definitely wouldn't let you manage my hedge fund, that's for sure.
