The Knife at Terminal 5 in May (more by Dana (distortion) Yavin)
Knife

The Knife returned in 2013 with Shaking the Habitual, their first album since 2006, and went on their first North American tour in forever in support of it. Now, the band have sadly announced that following their European tour this fall, they'll be calling it quits. In a new interview with Dazed, the band said, "We will close down, it's our last tour. We don't have any obligations to continue."

A post on the band's website reads:

In the autumn we will round up the Shaking The Habitual Show Tour with a number of European dates. After the touring last year we reworked the show during the winter. The performers, previously known as dancers, learnt how to sing and play instruments, the stage got three levels, Shannon Funchess joined us and the show became more fun and shiny. We performed it in the US in the spring and now we would love you to join us in our dance for some last shaking moves.

"A handfull elf pee
That's my soul
Spray it allover
Fill the bowl
Legs astride
An axe to grind
Generous actions with the speed of light
Without you my life would be boring"

See you on the dance floor...

/Olof and Karin, The Knife

Pitchfork scarf girls who use horrible puns as the most edgy of their humor everywhere are heartbroken.

The Knife show at Terminal 5 this year was an insult to my intelligence. Yes I went in there knowing it was more of a show, but I did not expect that much of a middle finger.

shaking the habitual was not as enjoyable as other knife releases/shows, but this news still makes me bummed. i wasn't done enjoying the whole of the band. im down w/ whatever karin and olaf do aside. and would be down w more fever ray just the same.

band to do list
- make band
- get fans
- break up
- wait a few years so fans can get a few raises
- 'come back' and give yourself a raise, charge twice as much for tix/merch/etc

^ Real question: has your deranged sexual obsession with a one-time BV commenter threatened your job, family or general state of mental health?

^ It took you two minutes to write that?

Going on their last tour doesn't mean that they're breaking up stop with the clickbaity headlines. For (the first) two of the knife's four albums the knife didn't tour at all

i liked shaking the habitual as a record. the concert (if you want to call it that) was an awful experience. I understand what they were trying to do but it was so poorly executed. It came off as an amateur dance recital. Hopefully the siblings will continue making music in some form or another.

Good riddance. I'm sure Pitchfork will see you a different brand of terrible tomorrow. Sacher will love it.

Don't they always break up after a tour?

Posted by Anonymous | August 21, 2014 1:56 PM

*sell you

Everyone is reporting on their "break up." Anyone who can read can see that they are saying this tour is done. How could they have current plans and obligations to tour a record they haven't made yet?

Is this really a band that people have emotional attachments to?

Love The Knife but whatever they do next will be just as great.

Silent Shout was so good!

Shaking the Habitual was kinda strange, I kept just wanting more Silent Shout type stuff, and this live show this time around was just bizarre.

Reunite and play Silent Shout tour!!
