The New Pornographer's great new album, Brill Bruisers, is out today on Matador and if you haven't dug into it yet, you can stream it via Rdio. The band will be in NYC next week to play The Late Show with David Letterman on Wednesday, September 3. They'll be sticking around the Times Square area the next night to play a special title-appropriate show: The Brill Building on September 4. That, of course, in the '50s and '60s was home to some of the greatest pop songwriters of all time (Goffin and King, Leiber and Stoller, Neil Diamond, Paul Simon and more). For a chance to get in the tiny space, follow NPR or The New Pornographers on Twitter. (They're doing trivia questions as we speak.) NPR will also have video and audio from the show up afterwards.
September 4 is busy day for big bands playing tiny shows, with Interpol at Bowery Ballroom as well. The New Pornographers will be back in NYC on November 17 at Hammerstein Ballroom with The Pains of Being Pure at Heart (tickets).
