X @ City Winery 8/21/2014
X

Los Angeles rock icons X are in the midst of a sold-out, four-night run at City Winery, each night playing one of the first four albums in full. It kicked off Thursday (8/21) with John, Excene and the rest of X tearing through their fiery 1980 debut, Los Angeles. A sitdown joint like City Winery may be a strange place to hear such an adrenalized punk rock album as this (and tonight's Wild Gift), but it may fit the mood better when they get to Under the Big Black Sun and More Fun in the New World. After tearing through its nine short songs, they came back out with a keyboard player and an additional guitarist for a set of other X songs.

Pictures and setlist from X at City Winery night 1 are in this post. More below...

Would love to buy that X wine. Don't need anymore shirts as I have like 5.

If you've never seen X, as a music fan, you owe it to yourself to rectify that one day.

I would love to see X play any of the first four albums, but not sitting down drinking wine at City Winery.

Wow way to play a venue totally out of your element.

'Guess ya gotta make those AARP payments.

Why the hell did they choose to do these shows at City Winery? What a bad choice in venue for this run.

Anyone know if there is an opening band for these shows?

Nobody is hard in this business. As long as there are people who loved them.
