The New Pornographers played the Brill Building last week and NPR now has pro video up of the entire show.

While there, the band’s chief songwriter, Carl “AC” Newman, applied for a job as a hitmaker in the pop landmark’s storied offices. Apparently there’s only one songwriting team (Julie Klausner and Anthony Atamanuik) left in the building and they’ve been relegated to not the nicest space there. (The heyday of Leiber/Stoller and Goffin/King it ain’t.) Needless to say, Newman won’t be quitting his day job. Watch his video encounter, written by Jake Fogelnest for Funny or Die, below.
