Beach Slang

We recently mentioned that Beach Slang (the current band of Weston's James Snyder) would be releasing a second EP this year, titled Cheap Thrills On A Dead End Street (out 10/28 via Tiny Engines), which follows their excellent debut from a few months back. Now we finally get our first taste of it from new single "American GIrls and French Kisses." It's another dose of the Jawbreaker-meets-Replacements style of their debut, but while those comparisons give you an idea of what to expect, they don't really do the song justice. James' delivery brings on that same rush of emotions he did with the four songs on their debut, equally nostalgic for youth and living in the right-now. The song's packed with quotable lines, but if there's one that really brings on all of the feels: "It's Friday night and I'm in the basement screaming out my lungs with my best friends. I hope when I die, I feel this alive." I mean, damn.

As discussed, Beach Slang have a tour with Modern Baseball that hits NYC for a free show this Friday (9/5) at Brooklyn Night Bazaar with Chumped and Crow Bait. They've also since been announced as the opener on the NYC stop of Cheap Girls' tour, happening October 14 at Saint Vitus before both bands play The Fest. Portland's Lee Corey Oswald (who play Long Island with The Menzingers ten days later) are on the VItus show as well. Tickets are still available.

Updated Beach Slang dates are listed, with the new song (via Noisey), below...

STFU 1:18 Replacements are terrible, yeah I said it.

Beach Slang is more a redheaded stepchild of goo goo dolls and jawbreaker.
