Frank Turner & Mineral's Chris Simpson (10 months ago)
Mineral and Frank

Frank Turner announced on Twitter today that he will in fact be flying in to NYC to be the secret guest opening for Mineral at Saint Vitus, as part of a trip where he'll also see Mineral three times. That's one way to guarantee yourself a ticket!

Also today: Mineral premiered "Parking Lot (Alternate Version)" over at Stereogum...

This alternate recording, captured during the album's 1995 studio sessions, can be found on the band's upcoming double CD compilation Mineral - 1994-1998. This double CD features remastered editions of both The Power Of Failing and 1998's EndSerenading, as well as previously unreleased songs and bonus tracks. Each remastered album will also be re-released on double DMM 180 gram vinyl, and both the LPs and Mineral - 1994-1998 will arrive in stores on October 21, 2014 via Arena Rock Recording Co.
Listen to that alternate version below.

Speaking of "Parking Lot" and not-secrets, The Parking Lot was Mineral's secret band name in Austin last week.

Never heard of anyone in this post.

Who?

Also, who gives a shit?

Also - WHO?

Mineral is the reason foo fighters or sunny day real estate or green day ever got popular. Very excited to see them this weekend. There will be a lot of jealous comments, but this band is the real deal. We haven't seen them in 17 years but it should be fascinating.

Ok, feel free to resume your dumb envy...

So we can thank Mineral for ruining the '90s & beyond?

Love "I Still Believe", it's amazing!

11:30

funniest post in a long time

your music history and math skills are one in the same = fucking awful

amazing how SDRE was already together 2 years before mineral ever started.

the year mineral formed Green Day released the number 1 most selling record in the punk genre known to date.

they are probably one of the worst bands to be associated with the 3rd wave of emo.

11:30, that made me laugh real hard this morning. Thank you.

Mineral were inconsequential, but time away makes even the worst band seem better, apparently.

Also, didn't half of SDRE become Foo Fighters? While I can really care less about any of the music mentioned in this post, 11:30s comments really made my head hurt.
