Lily O

As mentioned, in October Sam Amidon is releasing Lily-O, an album of reimagined folk songs featuring jazz legend and Bill Frisell on guitar, as well as frequent collaborators Shahzad Ismaily (he and Sam are both in Doveman's band) and drummer Chris Vatalaro. That's the cover art above.

Frisell and Ismaily will be joining Amidon for a few shows around the country, including Brooklyn's Music Hall of Williamsburg on October 18 with Cy Dune (featuring Seth from Akron/Family). Tickets for that show go on AmEx presale today (9/3) at noon with the general on-sale beginning Friday (9/5) at noon.

You may recall this is not the first time Amidon and Frisell have played togetther. That will be Sam's second big Brooklyn show in a month, as he plays BAM on September 20 with Kronos Quartet and more (tickets) as part of the "Nonesuch Records at BAM" celebration.
