Chicago trio Moritat releasing new EP (stream a track)

Chicago trio Moritat have been around since 2008, having released their debut album in 2012. With an emphasis on woozy/warped keyboard sounds and syncopated krauty rhythms, it’s off-kilter pop that owes a little to their hometown’s post-rock heritage. The band are set to release the High Plus Tight EP early next year, and that record has an interesting backstory. The band’s shared space was burglarized early in their career, with thieves making off with all their gear and recording equipment, including all traces of what was to be their first record. Then last year, they found a CD-R under a carpet with those seemingly-lost recordings on it. The band polished them up and here we are. We’ve got the premiere of “Visits” from the EP and you can stream it below.

While Moritat don’t have any tour plans announced yet, they do have a couple Chicago shows coming up. Those dates are listed, along with the new song stream, below…
