What's going on Wednesday? (FlyLo, Pond, Caveman, Sogno Del Marinaio, La Hell Gang, Minus the Bear & more)

Flying Lotus @ T5 2012 (more by Sachyn Mital,)
Flying Lotus

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Caveman, Icewater, Public Access T.V., Lily McQueen @ Baby’s All Right
Part of Baby’s All Right’s one-year anniversary, Caveman will squeeze into this intimate show (for them), with an undercard of hotly-tipped local acts, including loved-by-UK-press Public Access TV. Sold out.

Endless Boogie @ Baby’s All Right
If you still have energy, after Caveman stick around for Brooklyn’s Endless Boogie. Their name suits them well — they play a type of jammy, bluesy hard rock that truly is an…endless boogie.

Pond, Doctopus, Fascinator @ Bowery Ballroom
They may share members/ex-members with Tame Impala, but don’t call Pond a side project. Some would argue they’re better at the psych-rock game. (We like them both.) We’re not sure when Pond’s new album, Man, It Feels Like Space Again, will actually be released (it was supposed to be already) but you can probably catch songs from it tonight.

Black Francis @ Club Helsinki (Hudson, NY)
While the Pixies have been on the road a lot this year (with new music and a new bassist), frontman Black Francis is using the time they have off to revert to his solo career. He’s been talking about a Frank Black & the Catholics boxset and recently put out an unheard demo, so maybe he’ll revisit some tunes from that era tonight.

Buck Gooter, Zomes, Radio Shock, Florida, Jeremy Smoking @ Death By Audio
With a drum machine, guitar and netherworld vocals, Virgina primordial blues act Buck Gooter gets to the nitty gritty. Zomes, one half of whom is Lungfish guitarist Asa Osborne, are also on the bill.

La Hell Gang, ARP, Jefre Cantu-Ledesma @ Glasslands
The first of two Mexican Summer Records celebratory shows this week, tonight featuring Chile psych rock outfit La Hell Gang and local dreampoppers ARP. Lansing-Dreiden were originally supposed to headline but dropped off.

The Orwells, Skaters @ Irving Plaza
Chicago-area troublemakers The Orwells bring their beer-friendly party rock to town with fellow good time charlies, Skaters.

Minus the Bear, O’Brother @ Saint Vitus
For Minus the Bear’s current tour, they’re celebrating both a new compilation with b-sides from their past few releases and the tenth anniversary of the excellent They Make Beer Commercials Like This EP from their prime early 2000s era. So it’ll be a good mix of the old favorites and some of the lesser heard stuff. Tonight’s show is sold out, and they’ll also hit the larger Gramercy Theatre on Friday.

Flying Lotus, Thundercat @ Terminal 5
Flying Lotus has always had a little jazz in his IDM, but he fully embraces the genre on the just-released You’re Dead!. His bass wizard collaborator Thundercat opens and will presumably be joining FlyLo during his set too. Things should get wacky.

Il Sogno Del Marinaio (with Mike Watt), Overlake @ The Bell House
Mike Watt’s a busy man, having been in Minutemen, fIREHOSE, The Stooges and more, and his current focus is his the trio Il Sogno Del Marinaio with Italian musicians Stefano Pilia and Andrea Belfi. Tonight they team with the shoegaze-ish Overlake, which makes for a good double bill.

Nothing Changes w/ Rakta, Ninos Du Brasil @ Home Sweet Home
Hospital Productions-signed Italian duo Ninos Du Brasil are in town, having opened for Merchandise last night, and they’re sticking around for a smaller show tonight which is with Brazilian dark punks Rakta.

The Blow, Sadie Benning @ Union Pool
This is the third of The Blow’s three Union Pool “unplugged” residency shows. Says Khaela: “These shows are a laboratory for working out new ways of performing electronic music live. We will be performing songs, just songs, from the extended Blow catalog.” Ok then!

Nina Persson, Clam @ Webster Hall Marlin Room
Former Cardigans singer (and current NYC resident) Nina Persson released solo album Animal Heart earlier this year plays shows here and there, like tonight. NYC dance rock band Clam open and they’re worth catching too. You can stream one of their tracks below.

Big Terrific @ Cameo
Max Silvestri hosts the free weekly comedy show in the back of Williamsburg’s Lovin’ Cup. No word on who’s performing tonight, but Max usually lets us know via his Twitter.
