C3 Presents (soon to be part of Live Nation?) and their various partners announce another fest:

Lollapalooza announces Lollapalooza Berlin happening at Tempelhof Airport, September 12-13, 2015. Germany will join Chile, Brazil and Argentina as the fourth international location for the iconic festival, in addition to the original U.S. Festival in Chicago’s Grant Park. Lollapalooza Berlin is Lolla’s first European edition. Lollapalooza is being brought to Berlin by Festival Republic, the team behind the legendary Reading and Leeds Festivals, and Melt! Booking.

“We have very carefully considered bringing our festival to Europe and frankly, were intimidated by the rich festival history Europe has had for 50 years. Berlin feels like it is ready to explode as a city and cultural center and we want to be there to grow with the city,” said Marc Geiger, head of William Morris Endeavor’s music division.

The press release continues:

Lollapalooza Berlin will follow in the tradition of Lollapalooza U.S. bringing incredible music, food, art and social responsibility to a location in the heart of Berlin. The historically protected landmark of Tempelhof Airport hosts a variety of community activities from picnics and barbeques to festivals and sporting events, making it an ideal setting for Lollapalooza, which always lands in an urban center and brings together these facets of city life.

“Over two decades since its inception, Lollapalooza is more than ready to break new ground and bring the experience to new audiences, offering not just music, but fashion, food, plus an environmental awareness that is so important in the future of music festivals. Working with C3 and Melt! Booking to bring the Lollapalooza brand to Europe gives me great pleasure in not only building upon my relationship with these global partners but allows me to return to the iconic Templehof site in September,” said Melvin Benn, Managing Director of Festival Republic.

The latest installment is an exciting development for Lollapalooza founder and Jane’s Addiction Frontman, Perry Farrell who has seen the festival grow into a U.S. institution, while crossing borders and languages to touch music lovers worldwide.

“I’m extremely excited to finally bring Lollapalooza across the pond to Europe. Berlin’s energy, vibrant art, fashion and music scenes are a mirror reflection of what Lollapalooza is all about and I can’t wait to share in this cultural exchange,” said Perry Farrell, founder of Lollapalooza.

Lollapalooza continues to plant flags around the globe, with each festival learning from and collaborating with the other countries. From the cultural exchange of artists, to the sharing of ideas around sustainability and social responsibility the expansion strengthens and enriches each individual festival.
