Downtown Boys & Pinkwash playing The Media's 50th issue party tonight at Silent Barn (where The Le Sigh celebrated)

Last night (12/21), The Le Sigh celebrated their new zine and compilation at Silent Barn (anyone catch it?), and tonight another NYC-based DIY zine, The Media, will have their 50th issue party at the same venue.

Downtown Boys and Pinkwash, who both signed to Don Giovanni and will release their debut albums on the label in 2015, are playing, and there will also be readings (including one by Radiator Hospital‘s Cynthia Schemmer), a panel on DIY publishing, and DJ sets by Media contributors. Both Downtown Boys and Pinkwash are playing the second night (2/7) of the Don Giovanni showcases in Brooklyn in February. Those showcases also include Screaming Females, California X, Priests, Tenement and more. Tickets are still available.

doors will be at 8 and very shortly after (like 815) we will start an open editorial meeting. this will be our 4th open editorial meeting. our last one was about a year ago this time at the silent barn. before that we also hosted them @ allston DIY fest and FMLY fest boston. open editorial meetings are sort of like 1/2 de-centralized media literacy workshop, half open pitch session. we’ll all sit in a circle and introduce ourselves and talk about stuff we think is fvcked up about the mainstream media, and stuff that we wish was represented better in the mainstream media and alternative media alike. then we’ll all talk about The Media, future issues, article ideas. see u there xoxox
