Espectrostatic released 'Escape from Witchtropolis,' recalls horror soundtrack greats (stream it)

Austin resident Alex Cuervo has been playing in bands since the ’90s, including Hex Dispensers, Blacktop, and This Damn Town. On his own, however, he makes moody soundtracks to nonexistent horror and scifi films as Espectrostatic. Knowingly indebted to John Carpenter, Tangerine Dream, Goblin, and early-’80s postpunk, Espectrostatic works on its own terms too. His second album, Escape from Witchtropolis, was just released via Trouble in Mind and that’s the cover art above, which was done by acclaimed illustrator Drazen Kozjan. It’s spooky, engaging and occasionally danceable (in a goth/industrial kind of way). You can stream the whole thing below.
