Some Albums You Won't See on Pitchfork's Top 50 of 2014

Pitchfork

Yesterday, Pitchfork put out their top tracks of 2014 and today they continue their year-end coverage with their 20 honorable mention albums, a list they say is “not #51 through #70 in our albums poll, but rather, records we thought were exceptional this year and deserved to be highlighted regardless of where they wound up.” They included Against Me!‘s Transgender Dysphoria Blues, and wrote, “Against Me! is a punk band making their most necessary album as they approach 20 years of existence. (The kids I knew in high school never would’ve predicted that.)”

There’s also Frankie CosmosZentropy, which P4k gave plenty of buzz this year, emo revival band The Hotelier‘s Home, Like Noplace Is there, iLoveMakonnen (who did really well in their tracks list), the US release on Run for Cover of Swedish post-punks Makthaverskan‘s 2013 album II, Pallbearer‘s Foundations of Burden (the only metal album to get best new music this year), Protomartyr‘s Under Color of Official Right, rising and BCC Sound of 2015 longlisted Shamir‘s Northtown EP, Sleaford ModsDivide and Exit and more.

Find out who else made the list, below…
