You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Soulside, Sweet Jesus @ Saint Vitus
Before there was Girls Against Boys, members of that band were in Dischord/DC post-hardcore band Soulside, who broke up back in 1989 but have influenced a ton of bands since. Now they’re back and tonight’s their first of two NYC shows at Saint Vitus (both sold out). Opening is Sweet Jesus, who feature members of Have Heart, Verse, Dropdead and Soul Control, and are a pretty good fit.

Rufus Wainwright, Martha Wainwright, Emmylou Harris, Loudon Wainwright III, Justin Vivian Bond, Cibo Matto, Lucy Wainwright Roche, Sloan Wainwright @ Town Hall
Rufus & Martha Wainwright are celebrating the holiday shows with two shows at Town Hall this week, this being the first. The lineup is loaded with diverse and impressive names including other Wainwrights, country singer Emmylou Harris, NYC indie vets Cibo Matto, and the long-active all-around great performer Justin Vivian Bond.

How to Dress Well, Ian Williams, Com Truise & more @ Verboten
This SPIN/Microsoft-presented show “pairs groundbreaking artists across the worlds of music, digital design, and visual art to build one-of-a-kind, collaborative pieces of content.” It features How to Dress Well with multi-media artist Melissa Matos (TRUSST), Ian Williams (of Battles/Don Cab) with visual artist Ron Amstutz, and Com Truise with videographer Deborah Johnson (aka CandyStations). To get in, you had to RSVP.

Beach Fossils, PC Worship, Jerry Paper, Red Sea @ Glasslands
NYC indie pop band Beach Fossils have played Glasslands many times over the years, and tonight they return to say goodbye before it closes at the end of the month. It’s a cool bill all around, with noise rockers/Parquet Courts pals PC Worship, Jerry Paper (who just signed to Beach Fossils’ new label), and Atlanta’s tropical/synth poppy Red Sea.

Jordan Lee (Mutual Benefit), Widest Smiling Faces, Cave Cricket, Yaman Palak @ Silent Barn
Jordan Lee’s Mutual Benefit project often, um, benefits, from the many musicians he has with him, but he puts on a good show on his own too.

Wynter Gordon, Ronald Paris (of Porches), Frankie Cosmos, Tassemonacy + Steven Reker @ The Studio at Webster Hall
Porches frontman Aaron Maine (aka Ronald Paris) and his girlfriend/collaborator Frankie Cosmos play together a lot, and they’ve got a big Bowery Ballroom show coming up in February. Tonight they strip things down for solo sets in a smaller room, and weirdly enough the show’s being headlined by R&B/pop singer Wynter Gordon. Also weirdly (but cool), the ex-Austra duo Tasseomancy plays a collaborative set with Steven Reker to open the night.

Budos Band, The Citizens Band, Jonathan Toubin (DJ) @ Baby’s All Right
This is the “Peace & Love Holiday Ball” which benefits both The David Lynch Foundation and the Ringo Starr Peace & Love Fund. The Budos Band, who usually play much bigger rooms than Baby’s, are headliners, with Omaha, NE’s funky instrumentalists The Citizens Band playing too, and Jonathan Toubin will be your DJ for the evening.

Big Terrific @ Cameo
Max Silvestri hosts the free weekly comedy show in the back of Williamsburg’s Cameo. No word on who’s performing tonight, but Max usually lets us know via his Twitter.
