Paramount

Not to be confused with nearby Paramount Theaters, like the ones in Asbury Park, Long Island or Westchester (or less nearby ones like the one in Austin), Brooklyn’s Paramount Theatreon Flatbush will begin hosting live entertainment for the first time in over 50 years, according to a press release. (Also not to be confused with another re-opened Flatbush Avenie venue, Loew’s Kings Theatre.) A press release reads:

Barclays Center affiliate Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment has formed an alliance with LIU Brooklyn in which it will begin bringing entertainment to the university’s historic Brooklyn Paramount Theatre.

With the focus on booking emerging talent, Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment will program a variety of events, including music, comedy, and boxing.

The programming will return the LIU Brooklyn Paramount Theatre to its original roots as an active entertainment venue for the first time in more than half a century.

Originally built in 1928 as a movie palace, the LIU Brooklyn Paramount Theatre later hosted renowned Rock & Roll and jazz shows featuring artists such as Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry, Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra.

Currently used as a multi-purpose space, the LIU Brooklyn Paramount Theatre still has much of its original luster and can accommodate capacities of up to 1,500.

The partnership will create unique part-time job opportunities for LIU students, giving them a chance to gain valuable experience by working in various roles at the LIU Brooklyn ParamountTheatre.

Next month, Barclays Center and Brooklyn will host All-Star 2015 events, which will include LIU Brooklyn Paramount Theatre serving as a fan hub with the debut of the NBA House Presented by BBVA Compass. LIU Brooklyn Paramount Theatre will provide an interactive basketball experience on its full-size court and will include appearances from NBA legends.

Stay tuned for more info and an initial schedule of events.
