Manic Street Preachers

Long-running Welsh band Manic Street Preachers released their 12th album, Futurology, last year which went to #2 in the UK and made its way onto a lot of Best of 2014 lists, including NME, MOJO and The Quietus. Like most of their albums, Futurology didn’t get a release in the US, a country that has mostly shrugged at them. (Perhaps U2 filled America’s earnest/strident/political/bombast/across-the-pond quotient for the rest of time.) You can stream an album sampler below.

Last year also marked the 20th anniversary of arguably the band’s most acclaimed album, The Holy Bible, which was the final one to feature guitarist Richie Edwards who disappeared in February 1995, never to be seen again. (Though his body was never found, he was officially declared dead in 2008.) The Holy Bible was reissued as a deluxe box set and you can stream it (via Rdio) below.

The Manics are also doing a Holy Bible tour where they’re playing the album in full (plus other songs), and they’re bringing it to North America, their first dates here in six years (and only their second tour in 16 years). Those dates include a stop in NYC at Webster Hall on April 23. Tickets go on sale Friday (1/23) at 1 PM.

The tour is just the East Coast and all dates are listed below…
