The Golden Festival brings gypsy, Balkan and other Eastern European music to Grand Prospect Hall (2015 schedule)

Between globalFEST, Winter Jazz Fest and APAP Conference, there is a lot of interesting non-traditional-rock music going on in NYC in January. Additionally, there’s the 2015 edition of Brooklyn’s The Zlatne Uste Golden Festival which happens January 16 & 17 at Grand Prospect Hall, where it’s happened for years and where the DFA Anniversary happened:

Shaking up NYC together for 30 years! Join us and enjoy great music and lively dancing where community forms amongst strangers and families in true Balkan tradition. Golden Festival showcases more than 50 bands and acts on multiple stages over two nights. Balkan & Middle Eastern refreshments, Balkan arts vendors, as well as beautiful Balkan textiles on display.

This year’s fest is hosted by the Zlatne Uste Brass Band and happens across four stages across Grand Prospect Hall’s over-the-top rococo, chandeliered space. A list of this year’s scheduled performers is below (with more details here) and tickets are on sale now.

In addition to the main events happening at Grand Prospect Hall, there are a few Balkan music or related events leading up to Golden Fest, at such venues as Barbes, Muchmore’s, plus late night after-parties, and a daytime afterparty at Drom on January 18. Details on those events are listed below.
