Psychedelic Furs

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Johnny Hostile & Jehnny Beth, Gavin Russom, Holy Ghost! (DJ), The Juan Maclean (DJ), Nancy Whang (DJ), Sinkane (DJ), Museum of Love (DJ), Kris DFA (DJ) @ Baby’s All Right
This is the DFA Winter Warmup party, featuring live sets from John & Jehn (aka the singer of Savages and her partner Johnny Hostile), and a “live synth session” with Gavin Russom. There’s also an impressive array of DJ talent, featuring some of the biggest names on DFA’s roster.

Psychedelic Furs, Royston Langdon @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
It’s still okay to dance like Molly Ringwald, especially when seeing Richard and Tim Butler’s veteran alt-rock group trot out on the hits. “Love My Way,” “Into You Like a Train,” and “President Gas” still sound great.

Cracker & Camper Van Beethoven @ BB King’s
In the ’80s, David Lowery found college radio success with the quirky Camper Van Beethoven, which he then parlayed into wider appeal with his ’90s alt-rock band Cracker. Tonight you can hear songs from both.

Slim Twig, U.S. Girls @ Cake Shop
DFA recently reissued DFA reissued Slim Twig’s 2012 album, A Hound at the Hem, which is definitely not a typical pick for the label, more avant-garde orchestral pop than four-on-the-floor disco action. He plays tonight with the arty girl group outfit U.S. Girls.

Curse Purse (w/ Gary Panter), Samara Lubelski + Marcia Bassett, CE Schneider Topical, KHF, Blessed Thistle @ Palisades
Curse Purse is a new-ish noise band featuring ex-Speedy Ortiz guitarist Matt Robidoux, Ted Lee of Zebu, and Miss Olivia Kennett, and tonight they play with legendary outsider/punk artist Gary Panter. Also on the bill is Chelsea Light Moving’s Samara Lubelski and Marcia Bassett, CE Schneider Topical (mem Blanche Blanche Blanche) and more.

Eskimeaux, Adult Mom, Free Cake For Every Creature, Harpoon Forever @ Silent Barn
This bill brings together three regulars in NYC’s twee singer/songwriter scene, as well as the more rocking NJ band Harpoon Forever.

Genocide Pact, NARC, Grudges @ Acheron
DC death metallers Genocide Pact are fresh off a performance at this weekend’s A389 Bash, and tonight making their way to NYC.

Dillon Francis, Bro Safari, Chrome Sparks @ Terminal 5
Dillon Francis wraps up his three-night run at Terminal 5 tonight, and if you’re going it’s worth getting there on time for chillwaver Chrome Sparks.

For laughs, check out the NYC Comedy calendar too.
