Rock star tour riders has been the stuff of legend since at least the days when Van Halen used to request bowls of M&Ms with all the brown ones removed. Jack White‘s tour hit The University of Oklahoma on Monday (2/2, just a few days after his MSG show) and student newspaper The OU Daily requested a copy of the rider as well as the concert contract (a matter of public record since OU is a state institution) and printed them both before the show.

The newspaper’s angle was the cost of the show ($80,000) but, of course, the rider is always interesting, including a very detailed recipe for gaucamole. (Pretty classic recipe, though the “use the avocado pits to keep it from turning brown” it calls for has been widely disproven as myth.) Jack also doesn’t want any bananas in the dressing room, and his non-vegan post-show routine is a medium-cooked strip steak. You can see the whole thing for yourself here.

UPDATE: Jack White’s management has issued a statement (says to enjoy the guac!)

Needless to say, Jack was none too pleased about this and commented on it during the show (“Just because you can type it on your computer doesn’t make it right”) but the editors maintain they did nothing unethical. White’s booking agency though, William Morris Endeavor, has reportedly blacklisted the University of Oklahoma from booking any of their artists which includes Tom Petty, 2 Chainz, Goo Goo Dolls, James Blake and many, many more.
