Member of Le Tigre and MEN, activist and DJ, JD Samson usually has a couple irons in the fire, February being no different. This Friday (2/13) at Cameo, Samson will be DJing with Nomi Ruiz (Hercules and Love Affair). This late night party (doors at midnight) also features the live debut of Romance (aka producer Yung Diamond and Avan Lava vocalist TC Milan). Tickets are on sale now.

Then on February 19 at Union Pool, it’s another edition of Samson’s party, Pat, that focuses on “good vibes, good sound, video projection by local video artists and DJ’s that aren’t afraid to go deep.” Taking over the whole place, they’ve got Alexis Blair-Penny and Angel-Favorite in the front, and Eli Escobar, Nancy Whang, Amber Valentine, and Samson in the back. It’s free, 10 pm – 3 AM. Flyers below.

The next night (2/20) at Brooklyn Night Bazaar, Samson will be performing live together with Tami Hart (MEN), Lorna Dune and Aaron Harris. Dancepop act Royal Tounges are also on the bill and that show is free — you can RSVP to skip the line.

Speaking of Tami Hart, she and Samson have a new band, The Soft Batch, who will be performing at Bushwick’s The Cobra Club on February 25 with The Dead Betties. $5 at the door and the flyer’s below.

Additionally, Samson has her weekly Scissor Sunday parties at West Village bar The Rusty Knot which happen Sundays from 4 PM – 10 PM.

Finally, along with Murray Hill, Eliza Byard and dapper Q, Samson will be judging a Fashion Week contest where they are giving away Bindle & Keep suits to worthy individuals:

A bespoke suit is not just an article of clothing. It is a tool, a feeling, a hand-crafted self-portrait with leaf-turned edges. We want people to look the way they feel — confident, classic and teeming with self-love. This is your chance to nominate a special someone from the community that you think deserves a new suit — high-minded activists, social workers, honorable rebels, people in the civil rights sector and those fighting the good fight for positive social change.

If you know someone deserving of a suit, you can nominate them via an online form. Submissions are being accepted through February 15. JD Samson talks a little more about the Ace Hotel sponsored contest in a video below.
