Art pop greats Sparks just played two nights at Lost Angeles’ Theater at Ace Hotel where they performed their 1974 classic Kimono My House in full with a 38-piece orchestra. The record got a 40th anniversary special edition last year. Setlist and video of them performing “Equator” is below.

At the Valentine’s Day performance, Franz Ferdinand‘s Alex Kapranos joined the band for “When Do I Get to Sing ‘My Way’?” Franz Ferdinand and Sparks have been working on an album together, as Kapranos told The Los Angeles Times:

We were both in San Francisco at the same time, and we started talking, you know, “We should record a song together sometime.” A lot of times people say that, and nothing ever happens, but they followed up, and we started exchanging ideas, and pretty quickly we had six songs worked up and realized, “This is going to be an album.”

At the show, Sparks’ Russell Mael told the crowd that not only would the album be out this year, but both bands would tour together in 2015, with European dates in June and US shows to follow. Stay tuned.
