Waxahatchee

As first single “Air” hinted, Waxahatchee covers a lot of new ground on Ivy Tripp, her third album and first for Merge (due 4/7). The second single though, titled “Under A Rock,” sounds more like something that could’ve been on 2013’s Cerulean Salt. It’s a folk song for about 10 seconds before turning into the kind of ’90s-style fuzz rocker Katie Crutchfield sometimes delivered on that album (like “Coast to Coast”), but it’s also bigger-sounding than any of her previous work. Check it out below.

Waxahatchee’s supporting the album on a tour as a 5-piece band (including her twin sister Allison and Keith Spencer of Swearin’) which hits NYC on April 9 at Music Hall of Williamsburg with Girlpool and The Goodbye Party. Tickets for that show are still available. They’re also on the recently-announced Pitchfork Festival.

Meanwhile, Swearin’ have a few shows this week, including NYC on Thursday (2/19) at Baby’s All Right. Since we last spoke, it was revealed that The Goodbye Party also open that show, as do Radiator Hospital side project Attendant. Tickets for Baby’s are still available.
