You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Turn To Crime, Dinowalrus, Banana Kiss @ Cake Shop
Detroit’s Turn to Crime make soulful garage rock that at times has a warm lived-in quality but also has its scratchy paranoid moments as well. Such are the times.

Dan Deacon, Eaters @ Rough Trade
Dan Deacon’s new album Gliss Riffer is out today and he’ll celebrate tonight with what’s a fairly small show for him. Expect a lot of audience participation. If you’re going, get there early for Brooklyn duo Eaters who are worth seeing.

Julia Holter, Alex Temple, Spektral Quartet @ Merkin Concert Hall (Ecstatic Music Fest)
Experimental pop great Julia Holter teams up with Chicago chamber ensemble Spektral Quartet for the world premiere of Alex Temple’s “Behind the Wallpaper” and a set of arrangements of her own songs as well.

Swami John Reis & The Blind Shake, The So So Glos @ Saint Vitus
The great John Reis (Rocket from the Crypt, Drive Like Jehu, Hot Snakes, etc) has teamed up with hard-hitting garage rock trio The Blind Shake to pay tribute to classic surf rock instrumentals on a new collaborative album, Modern Surf Classics. They play their first of two NYC shows tonight.

Ariel Pink, Jack Name @ Terminal 5
Ariel Pink is capable of sublime pop and novelty rock, as heard on last year’s pom pom (sometimes within the same song). Likewise, his shows can be brilliant or a big mess…but they’re rarely boring.

Kayo Dot, Enablers, Insect Ark, Center Divider @ Mercury Lounge
Metal boundary pushers Kayo Dot headline this excellent bill with experimental rock collective Enablers, Michael Gira collaborator Insect Ark (aka Dana Schecter), and another relatively likeminded local band, Center Divider.

Kurt Braunohler @ The Bell House
Kurt Braunohler is touring in support of his new Comedy Central web series Roustabout that had him jet skiing from Chicago to New Orleans for charity. Will he be jet skiing to this show? The Gowanus is nearby.

Kate Pierson @ City Winery
The bouffanted B-52’s singer just released her first-ever solo album, Guitars and Microphones, and will be celebrating tonight at this show. The LP is riddled with guest appearances, so who knows who might show up.

Lauryn Hill @ Blue Note
Lauryn Hill’s currently in the midst of a nine-show NYC run on her intimate acoustic tour. She plays twice tonight, early and late shows.

Pile, Solids, Leapling, Radiator King @ Palisades
Palisades hosts a solid indie rock bill tonight with Boston’s post-hardcore-leaning Pile, Canada fuzz rock duo Solids, Brooklyn’s poppy Leapling and Boston’s folky Radiator King.

Dropdead, Creeping Dose, Narcoleptics, Grudges @ Acheron
Providence hardcore vets Dropdead have been going strong for over two decades, and even their newest material (they put out an EP last year) continues to rip.

Irma Thomas, Lee Fields, Eric Krasno, Alecia Chakour, The Dynamites @ BB King’
Two classic soul veterans, Irma Thomas and Lee Fields, come together for this ‘Blues at The Crossroads’ show that also includes Soulive/Lettuce’s Eric Krasno, Warren Haynes Band’s Alecia Chakour and The Dynamites.

Todd Barry, Myq Kaplan, Micah Sherman, The Enemy, Professional Strong-Man Chris “Wonder” Schoeck, Atomic Showgirls, Brian & Edy, + more!
“No Feelings Presents” is a monthly variety show featuring “the best improv teams, stand-up comics, and unique variety acts in New York.” Todd Barry and Myq Kaplan highlight tonight’s guests.

Big Terrific @ Cameo
Max Silvestri hosts the free weekly comedy show in the back of Williamsburg’s Cameo. No word on who’s performing tonight, but Max usually lets us know via his Twitter.
