David Crosby was once the radical musician who pushed The Byrds in a more psychedelic direction until it resulted in his departure, and then formed one of the greatest folk rock supergroups of all time. And as Stereogum points out, yesterday the 73-year-old legend himself took to Twitter to answer questions from fans, including a lot about his opinions on other people’s music.
Here’s what Croz had to say about Kanye West:
“@JADoss23: @thedavidcrosby opinion on kanye's music, impact as an artist?”
Music ?.. He's an idiot and a poser….has no Talent at all
— David Crosby (@thedavidcrosby) March 3, 2015
As for someone who does have talent, Billy Joel…
“@Matt__Hurd: Hey, @thedavidcrosby how do you feel about Billy Joel? (Lol)”
Very talented cat , writing , singing playing

If you didn’t already know, Croz has kept up to date too. He digs Fleet Foxes, the band you may have heard compared to CSNY:
“@jeffwpope: @thedavidcrosby Would you ever sing with the Fleet Foxes?”
Sure
— David Crosby (@thedavidcrosby) March 3, 2015
And Wilco:
“@bbaha7486: @thedavidcrosby do you like the music of @Wilco?”
Yes I do
— David Crosby (@thedavidcrosby) March 4, 2015
And Jessica Pratt:
“@peeven_stalmer: @thedavidcrosby @JADoss23 she's really good, you should listen: https://t.co/4NxihbhSgC“
I like her

He likes Kanye collaborator Paul McCartney:
“@Dickbotte: @thedavidcrosby do you like Paul McCartney?”very very much…one of the best ever
— David Crosby (@thedavidcrosby) March 3, 2015
But thinks he’d only work with ‘Ye to widen his audience:
“@MIneCritters: @thedavidcrosby Why do you think Paul McCartney would waste his time recording with Kanye West?”
To widen his audience
— David Crosby (@thedavidcrosby) March 6, 2015
He loves Brian Wilson:
“@EricJohnsonKOMO: @thedavidcrosby Three words to describe the genius of Brian Wilson, please.”
Innocent, brilliant,inspiring
— David Crosby (@thedavidcrosby) March 3, 2015
But definitely not Mike Love:
“@BestBergerEver: @thedavidcrosby Did you ever work with Mike Love?”
Have not
Would not
Not a good person
— David Crosby (@thedavidcrosby) March 3, 2015
“@BestBergerEver: @thedavidcrosby Is Mike Love the biggest jerk in rock? pic.twitter.com/pvhF1cYUSD“
Quite possibly
— David Crosby (@thedavidcrosby) March 4, 2015
There’s at least a chance you could see him jam with Phil Lesh during all this Grateful Dead excitement:
“@brizzahizza: @thedavidcrosby How bout coming up to @TerrapinXroads and jamming with #phillesh on some PERRO tunes?”
Might do that
Friend

But not at the actual Dead shows in Chicago or the Jerry tribute in Maryland:
Many asks about the upcoming Dead shows
I would go but I am working …did go to many …played with them a number of times
— David Crosby (@thedavidcrosby) March 5, 2015
“@starshine9160: @thedavidcrosby Are you going to participate in or be at the Jerry tribute? (Not the 50th anniversary shows).”I'm working
— David Crosby (@thedavidcrosby) March 5, 2015
He does not dig The Doors though:
“@BestBergerEver: @thedavidcrosby In your opinion, were the Doors better with or without Morrison?”
they NEVER swung at all
— David Crosby (@thedavidcrosby) March 4, 2015
And last but not least (for now), Ryley Walker asked him about bongs:
“@Ryley_walker: @thedavidcrosby have you ever broken a bong over somebody's head?”
Duh …no
