Hall & Oates suing Brooklyn makers of "Haulin' Oats" granola (so here's a playlist in this suit's honor)

Hall & Haulin

Red Hook, Brooklyn’s Early Bird Foods & Co. is being sued by veteran pop duo Hall & Oates over the company’s “Haulin’ Oats” granola blend, claiming copyright infringement, as noted by Page Six. “The name and mark Haulin’ Oats is an obvious play upon Plaintiff’s well-known Hall & Oates mark, and was selected by defendant in an effort to trade off of the fame and notoriety associated with the artist’s and plaintiff’s well-known marks,” the suit states. It also notes that this is not the first time someone has tried to “make a connection between the artists’ names and oats-related products.” So you may want to think twice if you were considering launching a breakfast cereal called “Bon-Os” or other punny names.

“Haulin’ Oats,” if you’re wondering, is a “back to basics” blend of oats and maple syrup as runs $27 for a three-pack.
