Mitski signed to Don Giovanni; California X will be here soon with Ovlov (win tix!)

Brooklyn songwriter Mitski won us over with last year’s Bury Me At Makeout Creek, a great mix of folk, lo-fi indie rock, and art pop that contained one of our favorite songs of the year. Now she’s signed to Don Giovanni for its TBA followup making her labelmates with Screaming Females, Priests, California X and more.
Mitski’s upcoming tour includes dates supporting Hundred Waters, supporting her new labelmates Screaming Females, and supporting Speedy Ortiz (with Krill).
The Hundred Waters run hits NYC NYC at MHOW this Thursday, 3/5 (tix), the Screaming Females run hits NJ April 4 at Asbury Lanes (tickets), and the Speedy/Krill run hits NYC’s Bowery Ballroom on April 25 (tickets). All of those bands also play SXSW.
In semi-related news, Mitski’s new labelmates California X‘s short tour hits NYC this week on Friday (3/6) at Saint Vitus with Ovlov, IYEZ and Darkwing. Tickets for that show are still available and we’re also giving away a pair. Details below.
