House of Vans hosting free 'Almost Summer' shows (The Julie Ruin, Parquet Courts, Pusha T, Radioactivity & more)

HoV

In the spirit of it being Almost Summer, New Yorkers can now add stopping by House Of Vans Brooklyn to their yearly ritual of dusting off their front stoop and trading in their winter boots for a fresh pair of all-white Vans for a free all-ages music series taking over House of Vans on three Saturdays this spring.

Greenpoint, Brooklyn’s House of Vans (25 Franklin St) throws annual free summer shows, and this year they’re introducing free Almost Summer (or as some people call it, “spring”) shows too. The series kicks off on May 9 with Kathleen Hanna’s current band The Julie Ruin, as well as garage pop band Bleached and Youth Code on DJ duties.

Then on May 23, indie rockers Parquet Courts headline with support from the Marked Men-related Radioactivity, sax-fueled punks Pill, and The Blackouts DJing.

And on June 13, rapper Pusha T headlines with a “top secret” opener and DJ Envy.

RSVP is open now for the Julie Ruin show. Stay tuned for RSVP links for the other two.
