Merzbow & Xiu Xiu releasing collaborative album on Record Store Day, touring separately (dates, stream)

Japanese noise veteran Merzbow has been doing some choice collaborations with younger artists lately. Following last year’s collaborative album with Full of Hell, he’ll team up with uncompromising songwriter Xiu XIu for a two-song, almost 40-minute album called MERZXIU that will be out on splattered vinyl for Record Store Day (4/18). It’s already out digitally though, and can be streamed in full below.

Those in NYC can see Xiu Xiu with a different collaborator tonight (4/2). He’s teaming up with drum ensemble Mantra Percussion for tonight’s Ecstatic Music Festival show at Merkin Concert Hall, which tickets are still on sale for.

Merzbow‘s next show here is during the Red Bull Music Academy NYC residency: the big Nothing Changes party happening at Output on May 13 with Genesis P-Orridge & Aaron Dilloway, Prurient, Pharmakon, Ron Morelli, Marshstepper, Uniform and more TBA. Tickets for that are still available.
