Part Time readies double LP 'Virgo's Maze' for Burger (stream) ++ other related releases

Part Time

SF/LA pop fanatics Part Time will release Virgo’s Maze via Burger on May 19. The 20-song, 80-minute double LP really shows off the breadth of svengali David Loca’s know-how. Sixties psychedelia, ’70s glam and soft rock, ’80s new romanticism and shambolic indiepop — it’s all there, sometimes in the same song. (There are very few clunkers on the LP.) And if that description sounds like Ariel Pink, well Part Time are definitely in the same galaxy, though with less of a freak factor, for better or worse. Loca is a bit more of a pop purist, with no snack food jingles to be found. Virgo’s Maze include’s last year’s great single “My Jamey” (one of my 2014 favorites) and you can check out new single, “Fallin’ 4 U,” and the Virgo’s Maze tracklist, below.

If that’s not enough for you Part Time just released Return to Cherry, a limited-edition vinyl LP (500 pressed) out now on Mother of Pearl. (Get yours while they last.) Half of that album also appeared on a cassette credited to David Loca and the Berkshire Hobbits which focuses on his psych-garage side in particular. It’s pretty good too and you can stream a handful of cuts from that below.

No tour dates at the moment for Part Time — they were great at Glasslands last summer — but hopefully that will change soon.
