Perfect Pussy

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Perfect Pussy, Sick Feeling, Meat Wave, Mannequin Pussy @ Baby’s All Right
It’s the first of two Perfect Pussy shows at Baby’s this weekend, both with different openers. This one has local hardcore band Sick Feeling, Chicago garage punks Meat Wave, and Philly’s shoegazy punks Mannequin Pussy.

Marching Church, Drew McDowall, Copley Medal @ 86 Delancey Street
Iceage singer Elias Bender Ronnefelt also fronts another band called Marching Church, who will likely appeal to most Iceage fans too. This is their first of two NYC shows on their current tour, and Coil/Psychic TV’s Drew McDowall opens this one.

Avan Lava, Cakes Da Killa, The Golden Pony (DJ Set) @ Bowery Ballroom
Kitschy dancepop act Avan Lava celebrate the release of new album Make it Real tonight with help from rapper Cakes Da Killa.

Connections, St. Lenox, EZTV @ Cake Shop
Featuring Times New Viking drummer Adam Elliott, Columbus, OH’s GBV-inspired rockers Connections play tonight with new Captured Tracks signees EZTV.

Gaslamp Killer, Kidnap Kid, Wayward, My Nu Leng, Jessie Andrews, Vashtie, Kittens, Cara Sticker, Luen @ Capitale
Capitale hosts a big party tonight, headlined by hip hop producer The Gaslamp Killer.

Mirah, Worriers, Slothrust, Aye Nako, Mal Blum, DJ SAD 13 (Sadie of Speedy Ortiz) @ Knitting Factory
She Shreds Magazine is throwing this showcase (hosted by Don Giovanni Records) which is great all around with a mix of singer/songwriters (Mirah, Mal Blum) and punk bands (Worriers, Aye Nako).

Teengirl Fantasy, Dubbel Dutch, Juiceboxxx (DJ Set) @ Lot 45
NYC electronic duo Teengirl Fantasy play a 2 hour live set at this show, and Dubbel Dutch (who just dropped a song with Baauer and Fetty Wap this week) is worth showing up for too.

Brenmar, DJ Ayers, Dunes [NYC] @ Museum of Natural History
The ‘One Step Beyond’ series continues tonight, bringing together three different local electronic musicians.

Benjamin Booker, Olivia Jean @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
New Orleans soulful blues/garage rocker Benjamin Booker continues to rise. Last year for shows at Mercury Lounge and Baby’s All Right, he returns tonight for one at the larger Music Hall of Williamsburg, and it’s sold out.

Todd Edwards, Braille, Different Sleep, Till Von Sein, Nitin @ Output
Dance music veteran Todd Edwards has been in the spotlight lately thanks to associations with Daft Punk and Disclosure. Tonight he headlines Output with support from Braille (one half of Sepalcure) and others.

Vision Fortune, Mind Dynamics, Courtship Ritual, Brat Pit @ Palisades
This is the second NYC show for UK act Vision Fortune who make dark brooding music not unlike Liars or Disappears. The band’s new album, Country Music, is twang-free and out on ATP’s label. If you’re going, be sure to catch Brooklyn duo Courtship Ritual who make slinky, gothy pop.

Violent Reaction, La Misma, Arms Race, Standoff, NYC Headhunters @ The Acheron
UK punks VIolent Reaction recall old school straight edge hardcore and Oi!, and they do a lot of justice to that sound on their just-released sophomore LP, Marching On (on Revelation). Tonight’s show is with great NYC regulars La Misma and more.

Heaven’s Gate, Baby Birds Don’t Drink Milk, Crown Larks, Media Jeweler @ Shea Stadium
Makers of muscular but melodic rock with just a whiff of shoegaze haze, Brooklyn’s Heaven’s Gate are gearing up to release their second album. Get a preview tonight.

Nude Beach, White Hills, The Jay Vons @ Bell House
With their scrappy, anthemic, punky brand of heartland rock, Nude Beach would’ve been right at home in 1985 Minneapolis. Their latest album, 77, dropped last year via Don Giovanni.

Pampers, The Buck Biloxi & The Fucks, Foster Care @ Union Pool
This is the first show of local bruisers Pampers’ two-night stand at Union Pool, tonight with New Orleans street rat Buck Biloxi and Foster Care. If you like the kind of sneery, bilious punk that goes best with a tall boy and a punch in the neck, this will be a fun night.

Revocation, Artificial Brain, Psalm Zero @ Saint Vitus
Boston’s tech-y Revocation are continuing to support last year’s Deathless on a short Northeast tour which begins tonight. Two excellent local bands, Artificial Brain and Psalm Zero, open the show.

Kodak to Graph, Big Wild, OBESØN @ Baby’s All Right
Gainesville, FL producer Kodak to Graph makes melodic R&B-inspired electronic music, and brings his tour to NYC tonight.

Deborah Harry @ Cafe Carlyle
Blondie singer Deborah Harry continues her residency at Upper East side cabaret supper club Cafe Carlyle tonight. It runs through April 4.

Black Label Society, Wino @ The Paramount
LA metal vets Black Label Society headline this Long Island show, and the legendary Wino makes it worth showing up early for.
