NYC post punks Bush Tetras celebrated their 35th anniversary on Friday (5/1) at Le Poisson Rouge. No longer spring chickens, but the band proved they’ve still got it. Pat Place remains an awe-inspiring guitarist who blasts shards of electric slide guitar, and their rhythm section remains lithe and funky. As for the promised special guests, Gang of Four drummer Hugo Burnham only came out to introduce the band, and Don Fleming (of BALL and other things) joined the band for one song. Lead singer Cynthia Sley’s son joined in at the end of the set to add his own dissonance and wall of noise to their cover of John Lennon’s “Cold Turkey.” Pictures from the show, including one of the setlist and ones of opening act Karyn Kuhl Band, are in this post and continue below…
