Santigold didn’t play any new material but covered a good portion of her discography (which amounts to two full-length studio albums – 2008’s debut, Santogold, and 2012’s Master of My Make-Believe). Every person in the place was lulled into dancing during the romping “Say Aha” as the shade-clad SGI ladies sporting their trademark poker faces seamlessly swapped their synchronized fist-pumping for a high-speed Irish step dance and Santi intermittently joined in without missing a beat. She played a sample of her M.I.A. collaboration “Get it Up,” then launched into a thundering rendition of the rarely performed “My Superman.” – [SPIN]

Santigold played Music Hall of Williamsburg on Thursday night (5/14), which was the latest in the free Steve Madden Presents series. It was Santi’s first NYC show in about two years — she has become a mother in the interim — and while she didn’t play any new material, she did tell the audience her new album is pretty much done. She ended the night by inviting six audience members to partake in a lip-synch battle to Santigold songs “Unstoppable” and “Lights Out.” The winner got to perform “Creator” with Santi (who invited the crowd onstage) to finish the show. Pictures from the whole night, including one of the setlist and Va$htie’s opening DJ set, are in this post.
