You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Blur, Honduras @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Blur are full of surprises this year — a terrific new album, The Magic Whip, and now this, their first NYC show with Graham Coxon in 15 years. They’re playing the new LP in full (and hopefully a few oldies). Doors are at 5 PM with Honduras playing at 5:45 PM, so arrive early (if you managed to get tickets, they don’t guarantee entry, it’s still based on capacity). And let’s hope they announce a proper tour soon. For those who do make it in, this should be a woohoo time.

Sufjan Stevens, Naomi Shelton & the Gospel Queens @ Kings Theatre
Sufjan’s newest album is his most bare-bones release yet, and with its lyrics mostly centered on his mother’s death, it’s his most depressing too. This is his second of three NYC shows on his current tour. The Daptone-signed Naomi Shelton & the Gospel Queens open.

Eric Clapton, Andy Fairweather Low @ Madison Square Garden
Eric Clapton is nothing short of a legend, with influential material recorded with Cream, Derek & the Dominoes, Blind Faith, The Yardbirds, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, and in his lengthy solo career. Tonight’s the first of two MSG shows this weekend, in celebration of his 70th birthday.

…And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Your Favorite Enemies, Boyfrndz @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
After that Blur show, MHOW hosts a late show from post-hardcore vets ..And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead who are still going strong, having last released the album IX last year. If you like Trail of Dead, openers Boyfrndz may be up your alley too.

Bush Tetras (35th Anniversary Show), Karyn Kuhl Band, Hugo Burnham (of Gang of Four), Don Fleming @ Le Poisson Rouge
NYC post-punk band Bush Tetras celebrate their 35th anniversary tonight with some cool special guests including BALL’s Don Flemming and Gang of Four drummer Hugo Burnham.

HEEMS, Michael Christmas, zZz, Pill, IYEZ @ Brooklyn Night Bazaar
Former Das Racist member Heems headlines this show, and there’s a multi-genre undercard with more hip hop from Michael Christmas, and post-punk from the other three bands.

Four Tet b2b Floating Points @ Sugarhill Disco
IDM mastermind Four Tet and jazzy UK bass producer Floating Points are teaming up once again to DJ together in NYC tonight. Like last night, it starts at 10 PM and they’re going all night (no opener).

Toro Y Moi, Vinyl Williams, Sinkane @ Terminal 5
Chillwave survivor Toro Y Moi rediscovered the guitar on his enjoyable new album What For? but his funky, relaxed spirit remains.

Life of Agony @ The Wick
Life of Agony haven’t played NYC, let alone Brooklyn, in a very long time, but after returning last year for a NJ show with Mina (formerly Keith) Caputo on vocals, they’re finally ready to do it again this week. Tonight’s their first show at The Wick, and they do it again tomorrow too.

The Kids in the Hall @ Town Hall
Fourteen Helens agree: These reunion shows (two tonight) for much-loved Canadian comedy trouple The Kids in the Hall will be a lot of fun.

Empress Of, Dave Harrington (DJ Set), Ezra Koenig (DJ Set), Los Cubanos (DJ Set) @ Elvis Guesthouse
Empress Of, aka NYC art-pop musician Lorely Rodriguez, will preview music from her forthcoming debut album for XL/Terrible with this five-night stand at Elvis Guesthouse. Tonight’s Night 4 and features guest DJs Dave Harrington (Darkside) and Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend).

Action Bronson, DJ Alchemist, Meyhem Lauren @ Starland Ballroom
Action Bronson returned this year with a new album, Mr. Wonderful, which has him in typically solid form. Tonight’s a good bill all around.

Juan Wauters, Homeshake @ New York University
The onetime Beets frontman releases his terrific new album, Who Me?, next week. Today he plays a free show with Homeshake that is free and open to the public.

The Muscadettes @ Maxwell’s
Montreal’s shouty duo The Muscadettes are here to have fun and make sure everyone else does too. Like early B-52’s or Fuzzbox, they’re in the same vein.

Misery Index, Lord Dying, Organ Dealer, Pink Mass @ Saint Vitus
It’s a great double bill for metal tonight with Baltimore death metallers Misery Index (who last released The Killing Gods in 2014 on Season of Mist) and Portland sludgesters Lord Dying (who put out Poisoned Altars on Relapse earlier this year).

J Fernandez, Lazy Queen, Cluster Sun @ Bowery Electric
Chicago songwriter J. Fernandez brings a motorik quality to his music that recalls American Analog Set or Stereolab, but there’s a magic hour sunlight vibe to his melodies as well. His new album’s out in June.

VEXX, Nancy, Pox @ Silent Barn Mateo’s Room
Olympia’s Vexx make punk that’s indebted to the genre’s late ’70s/early ’80s days, but singer Maryjane Dunphe has a unique pop sensibility that stop them from sounding at all dated. They play NYC again next week with Pissed Jeans. Update: Tonight’s show moved to Mateo’s Room.

Torrential Downpour, Syphilitic Lust, The Sheltering Sky @ The Acheron
It’s a good local bill with NJ’s boundary-pushing metal weirdos Torrential Downpour, Brooklyn’s raw, dirty Syphilitic Lust, and the Unearthly Trance-related The Sheltering Sky.

Joe Pug, Field Report @ Bowery Ballroom
Maryland singer/songwriter Joe Pug headlines this show, and if you’re going it’s worth showing up early for Justin Vernon associate Field Report (playing solo) too.

So Percussion, Miya Masaoka, Brothers Balliett @ BRIC House
Now in its 14th year, the annual Look & Listen Festival showcases the best of contemporary classical music in a visual art setting. The night’s headlined by the So Percussion ensemble. This should be pretty cool.

Photay, Ricky Eat Acid, Maxo, Doss, Eaves @ Palisades
Palisades hosts a good electronic bill tonight, including the prolific Sam Ray’s project Ricky Eat Acid (he’s also of Teen Suicide and Julia Brown).

Guerilla Toss, Horse Lords, Big Neck Police, Booker Stardrum, Weston Minnisali @ Shea Stadium
It’s a night of avant, angsty, percussion-fueled fun with Boston’s Guerilla Toss and Baltimore’s Horse Lords.
