Windhand announce 'Grief's Infernal Flower' details and tour with Danava & Monolord (dates, video)

Windhand singer Dorthia Cottrell already released a solo album this year, and now the Richmond doomers are set to follow 2013’s excellent Soma with their own new LP. It’s called Grief’s Infernal Flower, and it’s due out September 18 via Relapse. They went with Seattle grunge vet Jack Endino (who’s worked with Nirvana, Soundgarden, Mudhoney and more) to produce this one, which is a pretty amazing fit. Not only are the lines between grunge and doom metal thin to begin with, but I always felt like Windhand especially had elements of both. You can hear about two and a half minutes of the new album in the trailer video below.

Windhand will support the album on tour with two other psych-doom bands, Portland’s Danava and Sweden’s Monolord. The tour hits NYC on October 21 at Gramercy Theatre, which will be Windhand’s biggest headlining show here yet. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (6/26) at 10 AM with Live Nation and Music Geeks presales starting Wednesday (6/24) at 10 AM.
