Bo Madsen

Earlier this year, Mew released +/-, their first album since 2009 and one that has their prog/dream pop blend in excellent form. Not long after that great news though, comes something not so great. Original guitarist Bo Madsen, who has been with the band since they formed in 1995, will be leaving the band… for now at least. A press release states:

After 20 years playing together in Mew, the band and Bo Madsen have decided to part ways for the time being.

At present the rest of us will continue with Mew.

We are happy to tell you that guitarist Mads Wegner will be joining us on our upcoming shows, and we look forward to seeing you all out there.

Thank you for your understanding and support,

Jonas, Johan and Silas

Bummer! Fingers crossed that the “time being” ends sooner rather than later. The band is set to tour with The Dodos later this year, and will hit NYC on October 10 at Webster Hall. Tickets for that show are still available.
