You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Modest Mouse, Gene Ween @ Prospect Park
Whether or not you’re in love with Modest Mouse’s new album, their recent live shows have been super locked-in performances and filled with favorites from all over their career. Tonight’s show is sure to be a good one, and even better thanks to opener Gene Ween.

Jill Scott, BJ the Chicago Kid @ Kings Theatre
Neo-soul great Jill Scott has a new album titled Woman coming out this week, and from the singles she’s put out it sounds like more of her quality work. This is her first of two NYC shows with solid opener BJ the Chicago Kid.

U2 @ Madison Square Garden
Rock and pop superstars U2’s eight-show run at Madison Square Garden continues. As you may have heard, Bono, The Edge and crew have managed to reinvent the stadium spectacle for this tour — which is just what you’d expect from them (and these ticket prices).

Courtney Barnett, Speedy Ortiz, Torres @ Terminal 5
Courtney Barnett’s rise has been steady but still kind of astonishing — this is her fifth sold-out NYC show in as many months. A real down-to-earth charmer (and heckuva guitarist, too), she deserves it. Still, we miss seeing her in places like Glasslands (we also miss Glasslands). Great support for this show, too, so get there early.

Sonny and the Sunsets, Sarah Bethe Nelson @ Baby’s All Right
Sonny Smith is a terrific songwriter — wry wit, heartbreaking at times, and always thoughtful. You can hear it in action on the band’s new album, Talent Night At The Ashram. Sonny is always worth seeing.

Summerscreen: ‘Dirty Dancing’, Prince Rama @ McCarren Park
Nobody puts Baby in the corner, but you might get stuck in the back if you don’t secure your spot early to this very popular free movies series. Knowing Prince Rama, they probably have some dirty dancing of their own cooked up for their pre-movie performance.

Mourn, Shana Falana @ Rough Trade
Barcelona’s young punky indie rockers Mourn made their US debut with two shows in NYC this past March, and they’re back following an appearance at last weekend’s Pitchfork fest. Their debut album is solid Hole/PJ Harvey style angst and they’ve got enthusiasm to spre.

Mercury Girls (Toronto), Survival, Honey, Worse @ The Acheron
This show marks the debut of Toronto’s Mercury Girls, which features Fucked Up drummer Jonah Falco, and whose sound is fuzzy, dark post punk. (Not to be confused, though it is confusing, with Philadelphia’s jangly Mercury Girls.) This is a solid bill, we like Honey especially.

Cold Cave, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, Black Rain @ The Wick
With a collaborative cassette being released just for this show (only 100 made) there might be some cross-polination onstage as well at this night of dark, twisted postpunk.

Raekwon & Ghostface Killah @ The Paramount
Raekwon’s timeless debut solo album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, turns 20 this summer and in celebration of that, he and fellow Wu-Tang member Ghostface Killah (who’s on almost every track of that LP) are touring, and play Long Island tonight.
