We are beyond heartbroken and sad to report that BrooklynVegan photo editor and photographer Chris La Putt passed away today after a long battle with cancer. One of the most unique people we ever met, Chris will always be remembered for his strong opinions, strong will, kind heart, sense of humor, his love of cats and family, photography, and his strong passion for music. He partially documented his treatment via Twitter account @LumpInMyRump.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family, and over the next few days we’ll continue our tribute to Chris via stories and pictures. Donations in Chris’s name can be made to CancerCare. CancerCare provides free, professional support services including counseling, support groups, educational workshops, and publications, and they helped Chris through some hard times.

Chris, we miss you terribly already! Rest in peace, Joncy.

UPDATE: Chris’s funeral “mass will be held on Saturday, September 5 @ 10 am at St. Aloysius Church (691 Westside Ave. Jersey City, NJ 07304). His ashes will be laid to rest following the mass at Holy Name Cemetery (823 West Side Ave, Jersey City, NJ 07306)”
