Court Tavern closed for about a year in 2012, and then re-opened, but it has been closed this summer, and it was reported that the future ownership was in question. Now, it’s official that it will re-open once again in September. A press release reads:

Recently closed Court Tavern is set to open its doors once again under owner Mike Barrood of Mike’s Courtside and new manager, Brittney On Fire. The venue has been known for being closed several times throughout the past few decades. However, Brittney and her new management team are seeking to bring it back on the map with full force.

Brittney On Fire had this to say, “I vow to do everything in my power to keep this building ‘The Court Tavern’ and keep the music scene alive in New Brunswick. This venue has been a staple in Central NJ that keeps rock and roll and live original music in our hearts and in our culture. Music, booking shows, and playing shows has been my passion and come to be my life. I can’t imagine a more fulfilling job. The New Court Tavern will represent that passion.”

Owner Mike Barrood is determined to include dedicated staff, including Brittney, in his new ventures at the venue. The Court Tavern is scheduled to reopen on September 4th with a comeback show featuring NJ bands dollys, Delsea, and Centennials with special guests to be announced.

Stay tuned for more info at the venue’s website.
